ISA Courses

ISDS 1102 Introduction to Management Information Systems (3)

Role of information technology in the business including the development and use of information systems, hardware and software, the strategic impact of IT for businesses and the nature of the IT career.

ISDS 2000 Business Statistics and Analytics I  (3)

Descriptive analytics; sampling, probabilities and distributions, sampling distributions; inferential statistics including estimation, hypothesis tests; regression. 

ISDS 2001 Business Statistics and Analytics II (3)

Advanced statistical methods; one-factor and two-factor ANOVA (with and without interaction), multiple linear regression and predictions with an emphasis on model building and fit indices, predictions, and interpretations.

ISDS 3070 CIO Hot Topics (1)

Meet with CIOs and senior leadership to discuss industry trends, technology trends, career trends, and business best practices and insights. This is a 1-hour course that can be taken up to 3 times to count as an ISDS elective.

ISDS 3100 Foundations of Information Systems (3)

The role of information systems in organizations including the development of and use of information systems, operational and strategic impact, and inter-organizational implications.

ISDS 3075 Internship In ISDS (3)

Pass/fail grading scale. At least the equivalent of 144 hours per semester (3 credits) of learning experience in information systems under the general supervision of an ISDS faculty member and direct supervision of a professional.

ISDS 3107 Design of Information Systems Solutions (3)

Fundamentals of programming, program design, application development interfaces, debugging, testing and implementation. Design and development of information systems solutions. This is where you will learn Python.

ISDS 3110 Data and Information Management (3)

Concepts and methods associated with the definition, structure, creation, and utilization of databases for computer-based information systems. You will work with MySQL, an open-source relational database management system.

ISDS 3115 Introduction to Operations Management (3)

Principles and methodologies concerning productivity and quality of manufacturing and service organizations; production and service systems design; process and capacity design; total quality management.

ISDS 4070 Special Topics in ISDS (CurrentlyPrompt Engineering) (3)

Individual and group study of selected ISDS topics under the direction of a faculty member. Past topics have included Cyber Risk Management, Data Mining Tools, R for Analytics, and Big Data/Cloud Computing.

ISDS 4096 Cyber Risk Management (3)

Cybersecurity Risk Management; Project-based learning; In combination with ISDS 4123, Students recieve preparation for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification exam.

ISDS 4100 Information Systems Consulting (3)

A comprehensive, project-based course focusing on real-world consulting for information systems. Students collaborate on a consulting project, utilizing a blend of simulated scenarios and actual client engagements.

ISDS 4111 Enterprise Systems (3)

An exploration of blockchain technology and its practical applications in various industries. Topics include the fundamentals of blockchain architecture, consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, and decentralized applications.

ISDS 4112 Datawarehousing (3)

ISDS 4113 Management of Information Systems Projects (3)

Topics include: setting goals and objectives; work breakdown structures; project scheduling; managing project resources; evaluation and review. This is the course where you can receive the SAFe® 5 Scrum Master Certification.

ISDS 4120 Enterprise Architecture (3)

Coordination of the hardware and software components of enterprise communication systems. This is the course where you can receive your AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification.

ISDS 4123 Network and Security (3)

In combination with ISDS 4096, Students recieve preparation for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification exam.

ISDS Capstone. Methods for analyzing information needs and designing, evaluating, implementing computer-based information systems.

ISDS 4141 Introduction to Data Mining (3)

Fundamental methodology and techniques used in data mining, with particular emphasis on business applications; topics include market basket analysis and memory-based reasoning. You will work with JMP, a statistical analysis software.

ISDS 4180 Business Analysis in Practice (3)

Contemporary problems encountered by the business analysis professional; emphasis on case analysis and use of business analysis skills and computer technology to solve business problems.

Certifications

SAFe® 5 Scrum Master Certification (ISDS 4113)

Learn tactical skills to be an effective Scrum Master in a SAFe organization. Also, get the guidance and tools you need to work effectively in remote environments with distributed teams.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification (ISDS 4120)

This credential helps organizations identify and develop talent with critical knowledge related to implementing cloud initiatives. Earning AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner validates cloud fluency and foundational AWS knowledge.
